Bent-over row counter

Bent-over row: every rep counted.

Rows build the upper back that most desk days neglect. Apex One counts each full pull from a side-on camera and reminds you to finish the rep and lower with control.

How to do a bent-over row

Works: Lats, rhomboids, mid traps, rear delts and biceps

  1. Hold dumbbells or a band, hinge forward at the hips with a long back and soft knees.
  2. Let your arms hang straight under your shoulders.
  3. Pull your elbows back toward your hips, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
  4. Lower slowly until your arms are straight again.

Common mistakes and how Apex One cues them

Short, jerky pulls

Reps count through full range, and tempo cues tell you when you're rushing.

Standing up as you pull

Keep your hip angle steady; let the arms and back do the work.

Shrugging

Think “elbows to back pockets”, not “shoulders to ears”.

Camera setup

Side view

Shoulder, elbow, wrist and hip in view. Use decent light and keep a plain background if you can. Apex One tells you when it can see you and only counts reps it fully tracked. Video stays on your phone.

Questions

What can I row with at home?

Dumbbells, kettlebells, a resistance band under your feet, or even a loaded backpack. The counter tracks your arm, not the weight.

One arm or two?

Both work. For single-arm rows keep the working arm on the side facing the camera.

Phone position?

Side-on at about hip height, so shoulder, elbow, wrist and hip stay in view.
