Jumping jack counter

Jumping jacks: every rep counted.

Jumping jacks are fast, which makes them easy to miscount. Face the camera and Apex One counts every full jack, arms overhead and feet out, out loud.

How to do a jumping jacks

Works: Full-body cardio: calves, hips, shoulders

  1. Stand tall, feet together, arms by your sides.
  2. Jump your feet out wider than your hips as your arms sweep overhead.
  3. Jump back to feet together and arms down.
  4. Land softly on the balls of your feet and keep a steady rhythm.

Common mistakes and how Apex One cues them

Arms only halfway

A jack counts when hands get overhead and come back down.

Heavy landings

Land softly with slightly bent knees. Step-jacks are a quieter, lower-impact option.

Out of frame

Step back until your whole body, hands overhead included, is in view.

Camera setup

Face the camera

Whole body in view, hands overhead included. Use decent light and keep a plain background if you can. Apex One tells you when it can see you and only counts reps it fully tracked. Video stays on your phone.

Questions

Does it count step-jacks?

Yes, as long as your arms go fully overhead and your feet step out. It's a good low-impact option for apartments.

Phone position?

Facing you at about waist height, far enough back that your whole body is visible with hands overhead.

How many jumping jacks should I do?

For a warm-up, 30 to 60 is plenty. For cardio, try 3 to 5 rounds of 30 seconds with short rests and let the counter track your totals.
