Sit-up counter

Sit-up: every rep counted.

Counting sit-ups in your head is the first thing to go when it burns. Put your phone on the floor beside you and Apex One counts every full sit-up out loud.

How to do a sit-up

Works: Abdominals and hip flexors

  1. Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat. Hands across your chest or lightly by your ears.
  2. Brace your abs and curl your trunk up until you're sitting upright.
  3. Lower back down slowly until your shoulders touch the floor.
  4. Keep your neck relaxed; don't pull on your head.

Common mistakes and how Apex One cues them

Half reps

A rep counts only when you come up to sitting and return to the floor.

Yanking your neck

Cross your arms on your chest instead of hands behind your head.

Dropping down fast

Lower with control; the coach cues tempo if you crash back down.

Camera setup

Side view, floor level

Phone beside you at floor level. Shoulder, hip and knee in view. Use decent light and keep a plain background if you can. Apex One tells you when it can see you and only counts reps it fully tracked. Video stays on your phone.

Questions

Can it count crunches?

Apex One is tuned for full sit-ups. Crunches have a small range that a phone camera can't measure reliably, so we don't count them.

Phone position?

On the floor beside you, side-on, so shoulder, hip and knee are in view.

Is it good for a sit-up test?

Yes. Do as many full sit-ups as you can and your count and set are saved, so you can retest in a few weeks.
